Education

I graduated from Stony Brook University with majors in Physics and Applied Mathematics and attained a 3.8+ GPA. During college I have taken courses in many different fields and have become a well rounded tutor. I currently work at an actuarial firm and have the flexibility to tutor students at various times throughout the week.

Experience

I have been tutoring students since junior year of high school. I started out teaching mathematics and as I completed courses in college to satisfy my degree I began to tutor students in Physics. After realizing the positive effect my tutoring had on my students' abilities to learn and absorb the material taught in their classes I began to truly enjoy teaching. I encourage students to give me feedback on my lessons and ask questions so I can actively customize my lesson plans to best serve the student's purpose. My problem solving and analytical skills help me find the most efficient method to solve problems, however, considering that I tutor students at various levels and ages, I can provide alternate methods for solving problems that best suits the student. I took Precalculus and my first Calculus class in high school and discovered that I had strong interest in mathematics. That interest carried into my undergraduate classes and allowed me to quickly grasp the material and excel. Tutoring students helped me solidify the concepts and provided me a deeper understanding of the material. My career greatly depends on my mathematic ability which keeps me sharp and current. I wish to share my knowledge with anyone wanting to gain a better understanding. As with Calculus, I started taking Physics courses in high school. My ability in math translated into a rapid understanding of the formulas used to describe physical phenomena. I was a top student in the department and was inducted into the honor society. I was a TA for several classes throughout my undergraduate years and have experience tutoring from the introductory physics courses to the more advanced courses. I truly enjoy conversing with students about topics they find interesting in addition to aiding them in the topics they find difficult. I wish you luck on your studies and I look forward to hearing from you!
